As Managing Director of HBXL (and a course tutor!) I’m delighted to share some fantastic news – the HBXL Skills Academy has received glowing feedback from Ofsted following their inspection in July. In the Ofsted Report, the inspectors praised many aspects of our training, awarding us two “Outstanding” ratings – for Behaviour and Attitudes and Personal Development. Overall, we succeeded in meeting the high bar required for a ‘good’ rating. You have to tick many boxes to reach that status. So of course, I couldn’t be more proud of the team!
For us, this is more than just a report. It’s recognition of the effort that goes into making sure every learner feels supported, motivated, and equipped with the skills they need to succeed in the construction industry.

- Clear and ambitious vision – We exist to help micro and small construction businesses thrive, as well as to support individuals into employment.
- Relevant curriculum – Courses are up-to-date and industry-focused. For example, CAD learners start with planning regulations before moving on to more complex design projects.
- Expert tutors – Our trainers are industry professionals who use real-life scenarios to make learning practical and relevant.
- High-quality resources – Learners benefit from access to specialist software, digital templates, and recordings of sessions to revisit learning at any time.
- Strong learner outcomes – Almost all learners complete their Bootcamps, and many go on to make significant contributions to their business or secure jobs in construction.
