Objective
I had built up solid experience working in structural and civil projects, but I wanted to shift my career towards engineering digital design, specifically CAD. While I understood construction in practice, I lacked formal CAD training, which made it difficult to move forward or apply for the roles I was interested in.
My goal was to develop the technical CAD skills employers expect, and to gain the confidence to move into a new career path. After discovering the HBXL Skills Academy via the National Careers Service, the CAD for Construction Skills Bootcamp stood out as the right opportunity to support that transition properly.
Experience
The course was well structured and easy to follow, with clear guidance throughout. Tutor support was always available when needed, and the online delivery worked extremely well, allowing me to follow each session step by step and complete drawing tasks without difficulty.
The learning environment felt welcoming and professional, making it easy to ask questions and engage with others on the course. I particularly valued the practical drawing exercises. The follow-along sheets were clear and approachable, and each session built logically on the last, helping everything fall into place.
By the end of the Bootcamp, I had developed strong technical CAD skills alongside a better understanding of construction-focused design principles.
Outcome
Completing the Skills Bootcamp has given me the confidence to start applying for CAD roles that previously felt out of reach. It has opened up a new career direction and helped me feel genuinely prepared to enter the digital design sector.
I’m now actively applying for positions in CAD and feel ready to take the next step. I would fully recommend the HBXL Skills Bootcamp — it’s an excellent resource, and for me, it was time extremely well spent.
