They’ll also train you in the use of PlansXpress, the UK’s leading software for small residential builders.

The whole course is online and provides a mix of technical skills and industry awareness. We train people who are new to the construction industry and those who, after years in the business, have recognised the world has changed and want the latest knowledge. Plus, everyone in between. As long as you’re 19+ then go for it! All we ask from you is a real interest and willingness to learn. Free or mostly funded

FREE: If you’re unemployed, self-employed as a sole trader, sub-contractor, or running a small building firm (without a payroll) there’s NO CHARGE! The government will pick up the full £4131+VAT training cost.

10% FEE: Small to medium sized employers with a payroll, who have new relevant roles or wish to upskill employees, pay 10% of the training cost – the other 90% is funded by the government. So the employer pays just £413+VAT of the total training cost.

30% FEE: Large employers (250+), who have new relevant roles for their employees, pay 30% of the training cost – the rest is funded by the government. For this course, the employer pays £1239+VAT.

  • 3+ years resident in the UK
  • Lives or works in the geographic region that has funding
  • Hasn’t undertaken any other Skills Bootcamps in the last 12 months

What you will need for this online course

  • Windows laptop/computer (for software package installation)
  • Broadband access
  • Video access i.e. Microsoft Teams/Zoom for training and meetings with course tutor
  • Construction experience preferred but not essential.

What will you get when you've finished?

  • Skills Bootcamp Certificate of Achievement
  • Portfolio of 4 projects to demonstrate competence
  • A Career Progression Plan produced with a Careers Advisor
  • If relevant, guaranteed job interview with Supply Chain of Galliford Try and CITB registered employers
  • Mentor for up to six months.

How the course works

This course is delivered online with a dedicated Tutor via the Go To Webinar Platform.

You’ll meet with your tutor and co-learners live with video cameras on and can ask questions and interact, just as if you were in a classroom. All you need is a good internet connection and a quiet space.

Software required for this course (CAD, Estimating and Health and Safety software) will be provided free of charge throughout the course so you can complete your work.

  • Video access i.e. Microsoft Teams/Zoom for training and meetings with course tutor
  • Construction experience preferred but not essential.

  • End date: 27.03.25

How long is the course?

  • 8 weeks remote online – 2pm – 6pm (10 minute break) Tuesdays and Thursdays
  • 60 guided learning hours
  • 60 hours of independent learning
