Skills Bootcamp: Site Supervisor in Lancashire

Do you already perform a Site Supervisor role and want to formalise your responsibilities? Do you want to step-up on site and organise trades, answer questions, and keep jobs moving?

The HBXL Site Supervisor Skills Bootcamp in Lancashire blends recognised site safety qualifications with practical, real-world insight into projects, from housing developments, infrastructure projects and retrofit programmes to housing association work.

The course combines classroom-based sessions with online learning. It’s delivered over two weeks – 3 days per week face-to-face in Preston and 2 days per week online for CITB SSSTS and Mental Health First Aid courses. You will also learn how to use the Supply Chain Sustainability School to improve communication and productivity on site.

If you’re ready to step up from your current role to a competent supervisor – this course gives you the knowledge and industry insight to move forward with confidence. You’ll strengthen your leadership skills, and understand what clients and main contractors expect from supervisors today.  Places are limited to ensure quality delivery and individual support.

Who is the Site Supervisor Skills Bootcamp for?

If you are already working in construction and:

  • Regularly oversee others on site
  • Want to formalise your responsibilities
  • Need recognised site safety certification
  • Are aiming to work on housing association, retrofit or civils projects

 

The HBXL Site Supervisor Skills Bootcamp is suitable for both self-employed and those employed. You should be 19+ and able to attend the course over 10 days full time, 6 in person, in Preston, 4 days online for CITB SSSTS and Mental Health First Aid.

By the end of the Site Supervisor Skills Bootcamp, you’ll leave with recognised qualifications and practical knowledge you can use immediately on site.

Free or mostly funded

FREE: If you’re unemployed, self-employed as a sole trader, sub-contractor, or running a small building firm (without a payroll) there’s NO CHARGE! The government will pick up the full £3875+VAT training cost.

10% FEE: Small to medium sized employers with a payroll, who have new relevant roles or wish to upskill employees, pay 10% of the training cost – the other 90% is funded by the government. So the employer pays just £387.50+VAT of the total training cost.

Funding support makes this an accessible opportunity for individuals and small businesses looking to strengthen their supervisory capability.

  • 19+ years of age
  • 3+ years resident in the UK
  • Lives or works in the geographic region that has funding
  • Hasn’t undertaken any other Skills Bootcamps in the last 12 months

What you will need for this online course

  • Windows laptop/computer
  • Broadband access and video access i.e. Microsoft Teams/Zoom for the online training
  • Construction experience.

What will you get when you've finished?

On successful completion, you will receive:

  • CITB SSSTS certificate
  • Mental Health First Aid certificate
  • HBXL Site Supervisor course completion certificate.

 

You’ll be able to demonstrate:

  • Competence in site supervision
  • Understanding of current health and safety legislation
  • Awareness of mental health responsibilities on site
  • Readiness to work on publicly funded and regulated projects.

How the course works

The programme is delivered over two weeks:

  • Monday to Wednesday (each week): Classroom-based in Preston
  • Thursdays and Fridays (each week):
    • CITB SSSTS (online)
    • Mental Health First Aid (online)

 

The in-person days focus on practical discussion, real site scenarios, and interactive learning. Expect clear takeaways you can apply straight away.

  • A laptop or computer for the online SSSTS and Mental Health First Aid sessions
  • Stable internet connection for online delivery days
  • Notebook and pen for classroom sessions

Funding & costs

If you’re self-employed or a sole trader/owner of a small business that doesn’t have a payroll it’s FREE: The government will pick up the full £3875 training cost

If you’re an SME Limited company with a payroll there’s a 10% FEE: Your employer pays just £387.50 +VAT of the total training cost
