The CITB Skills and Training Fund is a ‘pot’ of money that construction companies of various sizes can use to improve their construction skills. The amount of funding available to each business every 12 months, depends on the number of employed staff. Our 40-hour remote access CAD and Estimating courses qualify for consideration for funding as a CITB Approved Training Organisation. The HBXL Skills Academy is here to help you with the funding application process. Complete the short form to request a conversation. We’re happy to help! Check out the Q & A below.
What you need to know
How much does it cost?
The courses cost £2500+VAT. This can be funded entirely from the CITB Skills and Training Fund if you meet the necessary criteria. A £50 deposit is required up-front to secure your place on the course. Whilst CITB are unable to refund the deposit in the event of funding being unavailable, the HBXL Skills Academy can reimburse you. Eligibility is explained below. You can also self-fund the course, subject to meeting the criteria of HBXL.
Am I eligible for the course?
To be eligible you must be CITB registered, and up-to-date with Levy Returns. You must have less than 250 employees and have completed previous projects paid for by the CITB. Trainees must be 18+. We will support you in the completion of the Skills and Training Fund form. Then it’s over to the CITB to review and score all applications at the end of each submission window (typically at the end of each calendar month). You should receive a decision from the CITB around the 15th of the month after your application was submitted. We will walk you through the whole process to make it as straightforward as possible.
What if I'm not CITB registered?
To apply for funding from CITB you need to be “engaged wholly or mainly in construction industry activities” when construction activities take up more than half of your total employees’ time (including subcontractors). If that’s you then you need to register your business with CITB before we can enrol you on the course. Find out more here. And take a look at the CITB Levy Calculator. And finally here’s the CITB registration form.
Is it right for me?
We’ll have a call with you to check you can realistically commit to attending each session and find time for the homework. But equally importantly:
- Do you want to upskill / have an upskilled workforce? Do you want to improve employee retention? Attract more employees? Will your business benefit from this course?
- Do you have a positive mindset and a real interest in learning new things?
What will I need for the CITB course?
- Windows laptop/computer (for software package installation) – if you have an Apple Mac computer you will need Parallels.
- Broadband access
- Video access i.e. Microsoft Teams/Zoom for training and meetings with course tutor.
What forms will I fill out?
If all goes well with our phone call and initial eligibility checks, we move on to the form filling. We’ll email you all the form and documents. We promise to make it as painless as possible!
